The former is a superb, exciting, drift-happy blast through a grimy racing underworld, with pitch-perfect touchscreen controls. This popular racing franchise has had several remakes for iPhone, two of which remain on the App Store: The Need for Speed Most Wanted ($5/£5) and Need for Speed No Limits (free + IAP). Be mindful the tougher difficulty levels are tricky to the point it won’t just be the hideous enemies giving you nightmares. There were 3D blasters before Doom, but Id Software’s horror-tinged entry defined a genre – and one that’s poorly catered for on iPhone, which makes Doom ($5/£5) and Doom 2 ($5/£5) worth revisiting all the more.īoth games are present and correct, with solid attempts at touchscreen controls – although, again, a controller is beneficial. Fancy something designed for the touchscreen instead? Sonic Runners Adventure ($3/£3) does for Sonic what Super Mario Run did for Mario. These remastered console titles look great and play well – especially if you’ve a controller. Instead, try Sonic the Hedgehog Classic (free or $2/£2), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Classic (free or $2/£2) and Sonic CD Classic (free or $2/£2). Sega’s blue hedgehog appears in many iPhone games, but ignore throwaway 3D-based efforts and last year’s risible Olympics cash-in. This might sound reductive, but the combination of carefully crafted levels and familiar characters makes for an enjoyable romp – far more so than the micro-transaction/loot box-heavy racing game that is Mario Kart Tour (free + IAP). But unlike Super Mario Bros, this game’s an auto-runner – you only tap the screen to make Mario jump. Nintendo’s most famous face came to iPhone in Super Mario Run (free or $10/£10). A pity, since the basic game and the online ‘battle royale’ mode are otherwise great fun. It’s been packed with freemium trappings – the worst being an abhorrent subscription payment for removing adverts. But iPhone Tetris (free + IAP) is terrible. The original Tetris was a marvel – a game created in Russia, on an obscure computer no-one elsewhere had heard of. If you want an authentic Pac-Man with responsive touchscreen controls, this is the one to go for. Secondly, this is a premium game on iPhone, free from the grind and garbage that afflicts Pac-Man. First, the original game is better than Pac-Man, with smarter enemies and varied mazes. Pac-Man ($3/£3) gets her own entry, for two reasons. (Even hard-as-nails classic games usually gave you three!) But mastery reaps rewards as you learn to tackle attack waves and beat colossal bosses. The freemium grind and single-life mechanic can grate. This update includes echos of the original, but is faster and more varied. The 1981 Galaga coin-op was Space Invaders with dive-bombing aliens. Galaga Wars (free) also breaks from the game’s past. Veterans might grumble, but this neon-infused update remains intense, has a single-purchase ads buyout, and keeps the original’s chilling ‘the end’ message after your inevitable demise. Missile Command: Recharged (free or $3/£3) simplifies everything, automating launches via touchscreen taps. The original 1980 Missile Command arcade cabinet finds you fending off a nuclear attack by firing missiles from three bases. Pac-Man Geo (free) attempts to transplant Pac-Man to real-world maps – but loses itself along the way. Pac-Man Party Royale (Apple Arcade) is a modern cartoonish take that’s fun in multiplayer. Pac-Man (free + IAP) includes the original arcade effort and has solid swipe-controls – but also IAP and freemium gunk. The yellow dot-muncher is gaming’s most famous character. On iPhone, Space Invaders ($2/£2) is a straight port of the arcade game you can unwisely play using the accelerometer or, better, with responsive on-screen controls. Invaders from space are (slowly) descending while marching back and forth. On iPad, connect a PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X/S controller. If you’ve an iPhone, we recommend the Backbone and Razer Kishi, both of which ‘stretch’ to fit your iPhone and are powered by it. The Backbone controller, wrapped around an iPhone. Ravel, hurt by the comment, ended the relationship. After hearing a two-piano reduction performed by Ravel and Marcelle Meyer, Diaghilev said it was a "masterpiece" but rejected Ravel's work as "not a ballet. Ravel completely reworked his idea of Wien into what became La valse, which was to have been written under commission from Serge Diaghilev as a ballet. You know my intense attraction to these wonderful rhythms and that I value the joie de vivre expressed in the dance much more deeply than Franckist puritanism. Ravel described his own attraction to waltz rhythm as follows, to Jean Marnold, while writing La valse: After his service in the French Army, Ravel returned to his original idea of the symphonic poem Wien. In Ravel's own compositional output, a precursor to La valse was his 1911 Valses nobles et sentimentales, which contains a motif that Ravel reused in the later work. An earlier influence from another composer was the waltz from Emmanuel Chabrier's opera Le roi malgré lui. The idea of La valse began first with the title "Vienne", then Wien (French and German for " Vienna", respectively) as early as 1906, where Ravel intended to orchestrate a piece in tribute to the waltz form and to Johann Strauss II. In his tribute to Ravel after the composer's death in 1937, Paul Landormy described the work as "the most unexpected of the compositions of Ravel, revealing to us heretofore unexpected depths of Romanticism, power, vigor, and rapture in this musician whose expression is usually limited to the manifestations of an essentially classical genius." Creation and meaning (The year of the choreographic setting, 1855, repudiates such an assumption.)" In the course of La Valse, I did not envision a dance of death or a struggle between life and death. But one should only see in it what the music expresses: an ascending progression of sonority, to which the stage comes along to add light and movement." He also commented, in 1922, that "It doesn't have anything to do with the present situation in Vienna, and it also doesn't have any symbolic meaning in that regard. This dance may seem tragic, like any other emotion. The work has been described as a tribute to the waltz the composer George Benjamin, in his analysis of La valse, summarized the ethos of the work: "Whether or not it was intended as a metaphor for the predicament of European civilization in the aftermath of the Great War, its one-movement design plots the birth, decay and destruction of a musical genre: the waltz." Ravel himself, however, denied that it is a reflection of post- World War I Europe, saying, "While some discover an attempt at parody, indeed caricature, others categorically see a tragic allusion in it – the end of the Second Empire, the situation in Vienna after the war, etc. It was conceived as a ballet but is now more often heard as a concert work. La valse, poème chorégraphique pour orchestre (a choreographic poem for orchestra), is a work written by Maurice Ravel between February 19 it was first performed on 12 December 1920 in Paris. For George Balanchine's ballet, see La Valse (Balanchine).

ĭomenico Agostino Vandelli named the species first in 1761 as Testudo coriacea after an animal captured at Ostia and donated to the University of Padua by Pope Clement XIII. The genus, in turn, contains the only extant member of the family Dermochelyidae. Taxonomy and evolution Taxonomy ĭermochelys coriacea is the only species in genus Dermochelys. It can easily be differentiated from other modern sea turtles by its lack of a bony shell instead, its carapace is covered by oily flesh and flexible, leather-like skin, for which it is named. It is the only living species in the genus Dermochelys and family Dermochelyidae. The leatherback sea turtle ( Dermochelys coriacea), sometimes called the lute turtle, leathery turtle or simply the luth, is the largest of all living turtles and the heaviest non- crocodilian reptile, reaching lengths of up to 1.8 metres (5 ft 11 in) and weights of 500 kilograms (1,100 lb). Organization health care providers (e.g., hospitals, home health agencies, ambulance companies) are considered Entity Type 2 (Organization) providers. Sole proprietors and sole proprietorships are Entity Type 1 (Individual) providers. Entity Type 1 providers are individual providers who render health care (e.g., physicians, dentists, nurses). There are two categories of health care providers for NPI enumeration purposes. Where NPI should be used? : The NPI must be used in place of legacy provider identifiers, such as a Unique Provider Identification Number (UPIN), Online Survey Certification & Reporting (OSCAR) and National Supplier Clearinghouse (NSC) in HIPAA standard transactions. Covered health care providers and all health plans and health care clearinghouses must use the NPIs in the administrative and financial transactions adopted under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). The NPI must be used in lieu of legacy provider identifiers in the HIPAA standards transactions. This means that the numbers do not carry other information about healthcare providers, such as the state in which they live or their medical specialty. The NPI is a 10-position, intelligence-free numeric identifier (10-digit number). What is a NPI Number? : The National Provider Identifier (NPI) is a unique identification number for covered health care providers. We create a pyrightconfig.json in our root directory of the project. Pyright configurationĪs with all tools, we can have a configuration file for Pyright to set it up according to our needs. It provides better IntelliSense support for your Python code, auto-imports, code navigation, and much more. The extension can be downloaded from here and does a lot more than just static type checking. And since most of us have already switched to VSCode, this is definitely a huge plus. Once installed, we can use it as: pyright Īpart from the benefit of Pyright being fast, it has amazing support for VS Code in the form of an extension. # or we can use npm install -g pyright if we want to install it globally So for installing Pyright, we will use: npm install pyright After all, it is a python type checking tool, it should be available via pip. While most people do have Node installed, it might seem like a hassle for those who do not. The one negative for Pyright is that you need Node installed for using Pyright since it is available as an npm package. It can run in a “watch” mode and performs fast incremental updates when files are modified. It is meant for large Python source bases. Pyright is typically 5x or more faster than mypy and other type checkers that are written in Python. It is faster at type checking than other tools and also has a little more accuracy than MyPy. One of the major benefits of Pyright over other similar tools is the speed. We need tools like Pyright to throw those errors and help in ensuring type safety. There are no errors thrown even if the types do not much what is defined as a hint. Installing PyrightĪs we saw, type hints are just hints. We can also use Optional for passing in None to variables. We define our code without the types in the main file:Īnd in the greeting.pyi file, we specify the hints:įor generics, we can use: from typing import Dictĭef greeting(names: Dict) -> str: The convention in the pyi file is to replace the body with “…”. Stub files can be created for modules to avoid modifying the existing codebase. There are 3 ways in which we can specify type hints in Python: And that is why we need linters like Pyright to statically type check our code.Īnother thing to point out is type hints are only available in Python 3.5 and above. Hinting as many things as we want will not have any effect since Python itself is not using them. It is also important to note that type hints are optional. For smaller projects, they might be an overhead. Type hints, like TypeScript, are usually beneficial for larger projects. Instead, you are able to add an additional Engineer. Not impressed, as yet another example of companies putting a smidge of extra profit ahead of their customers, despite the tough economic times. I was about to take Screwfix to task, but double checked and the more detailed product number (not shown on the Screwfix website, and not made obvious on Bosch's) ends '70' on the drill I bought, but '61' on the Bosch website.īasically, at best ignorant/incomplete and at worst downright sneaky on the part of Bosch and/or Screwfix. However, despite the Bosch website claiming there is ONLY ONE VARIANT of this product, they are clearly lying as they supply Screwfix with a slightly different version, WITHOUT the drill bits. The GBH 2-21 fitted the bill (I thought) for the reason above, and then found that Screwfix stock this drill which is great as there's one not too far away. I'd gone straight to the Bosch website as I normally consider them a solid company, and looked through the range of SDS drills. The product allegedly comes with 3 SDS bits as part of the product, which was the main reason I purchased (I needed to complete a job today). A rating influenced by Bosch/Screwfix's advertising/sales practices (I'm yet to use the drill). |
